Winter Solstice, Yule, Mid-Winter or Alban Arthan is the celebration of the rebirth of the sun after the longest night of the year. It is one of the eight solar festivals comprising the Wheel of the Year. Nourished in the womb of the Goddess during the dark time of the year, the sun symbolises the God born anew. Plants that remain evergreen such as fir trees, holly and mistletoe are used as decorations. A good time to reflect on the past year and make plans for the new year.
Wishing everyone joy, peace, good health, prosperity in the new year! May all your dreams come true!
And to you 🙂

Thank god for the Magick Mermaid to remind us of these important cosmic events. I always forget when they are otherwise. This used to mean everything to our ancestors, and now we’re all so busy exchanging mass produced goods, we miss it. Personally, I blame Poldark – he’s poisoned our the minds of our females with his fake brand of bare chested milksoppery. Once we destroy the cult of Poldark, balance will be restored and the planets will align.

A very interesting take on the unbalanced world in which we find ourselves! 😀

Wait a minute – interesting could mean one of two things!?
I shall take it as an agreement though. Thank you.

I used to be depressed by the darkness this time of year. Now that I’m in middle age, I feel reflective and a little sad about good times that are in the past. It’s healthy, though. We need to spend some time in the darkness to appreciate the light. Good Solstice to you!

Thank you so much! I welcome the dark side of the year as it gives me a chance to turn inward as well as plan for new things.

A bit too late for Yule-wishes now, I guess, but I hope you were well. What language/culture is Alban Arthan?

It’s never too late for good wishes 🙂 Alban Arthan is Welsh. It means Light of Winter.
