There lived a green bird in a tree
A magnificent warbler was he
He sang day and night
To all’s delight
And then drank a large G&T.
(or a “large pot of tea” in the family blog version)
On a more serious note, some bird populations are diminishing or becoming extinct altogether due to habitat loss and pesticides.
I love your limerick. What a fantastic way to bring recognition to a serious situation!
Sweet and educational.

Thank you so much, Rose! It’s horrifying to see how many birds and other animals are lost every year.

The drunkard green bird from the tree
Who had gulped down the G&T
Awoke the next day
After a night in the hay
Unable to fly or to see

Great limerick! That’s one gorgeous bird, look at that gorgeous emerald hue!
What does the “G” stand for in G&T?!?

Thanks, Ellie! It is a beautiful bird! The name wasn’t mentioned with the photo.

I recently read an article which said there are fewer birds than 20 years ago and those that remain are smaller in size but have a larger wing span (to help keep them cooler due to global warming).
I do love limericks. Keep them coming.

That’s interesting about the evolving larger wing span. It’s horrifying to wonder what will happen if the planet gets any warmer. Over a billion birds and animals have been lost in the Australian wildfires. π¦
Thank you for the limerick compliment! π

That is a lovely bird! And I agree, we must protect them. I would be lost without birds π
