The difference is we know the likely outcome, yet we collectively continue to soil our own nest and most of us actually vote for it! The only known “intelligent” life in the entire universe, and it will highly likely be knowingly responsible for it’s own extinction. Kind of ironic and sad.
Well… not entirely. Most creatures, given a plentiful food supply, will frenetically reproduce until their numbers exceed that supply, and suffer from the Seneca effect. Take, for instance, the fate of the reindeer herd on St Matthew Island… and consider that we, too, are just animals…
Earth is the only home we have. I see people trashing it every day, especially here on the coast. If people would just get rid of their trash properly, that would help. I even seen masks dropped in the gutter. Don’t get me started. Thanks for the post! I meant to post something but let the time go by. TGIF to you! Cheers!
IMO it’s way past time that fast food hawkers (especially McDonald’s, Starbucks and KFC – to name just three of the purveyors of trash-wrapped chow whose garbage I constantly collect on my litter patrols) were penalised for their contribution to the problem.
One idea would be to oblige them to buy back their branded rubbish; this would have the advantage of attacking the problem from both ends: it would both make them think twice about their packaging, and encourage folks to go litter picking to earn some cash!
We must help the planet before its too late 😦

The greed of men, we really are a stupid species.

Yes! Animals are more respectful of their environment than humans!

If this is us trying our best then we are fooling ourselves!

Thank you, Jo Nell! I’ve seen the same; people throwing stuff out of cars like fast food wrappers, masks, bottles, cans….. 😦

Litter louts need to be called out, and (somehow) persuaded not to trash our future!.

I agree! I constantly see (plastic – ugh!) fast food cups tossed in the road and on properties. 😦

That’s a fantastic idea! I wish there was a way to make that happen!

It’s odd to ‘like’ this. I doubt people will make the turn. That doesn’t keep me from hoping

It is an unbelievable circus. I wonder if we have reached the point of no return. However, whoever cares, needs to keep trying.
